Bio/Statement, Marcie Vallette
 Fun! Here's an old pic of me from Studio Center days. ----------------------------------- After years of oil painting Vermont landscapes and interior still life, things in my life took an unexpected turn. My husband was facing a devastating diagnosis, prompting a profound shift in my perspective. As my husband’s disease progressed I felt a pressing need to engage more fully with my new existence, channeling my experiences and emotions into a new artistic direction. It has been a direction that often includes narrative. I explored printmaking using mostly animals in groups as subject matter, and later I began creating comics, sequential drawings, memoir-drawing, educational materials and books. I met up with my fellow artist, Montserrat grad and Dharma friend Iris on Cannon Mountain for a much needed afternoon of friendship and connection.  |
